    PhD Position in Biomechanics/Osteoarthritis

    A new Ph.D. student position in the Department of Kinesiology and Health is available at the Integrative Human Biomechanics Group in Biomecahcnis Lab, directed by Dr. Huang at Georgia State University. The lab’s research is focused on using multidisciplinary research methods to identify modifiable risk factors and develop treatment and prevention strategies to decrease disease burden and improve the quality of life for individuals with or at risk for joint pathologies. Opportunities will exist to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and academic faculty at GSU, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Emory University.

    The preferred starting date: Fall 2025 semester.

    Research Focus:

    The successful candidate will work on projects involving the influence of gait modification on muscle coordination and gait efficiency to improve physical activity in people with knee osteoarthritis.

    Qualifications requirement:
    1. A bachelor's or master’s degree in sports medicine, athletic training, kinesiology, exercise science, rehabilitation science, DPT, or related field.
    1. Past experience conducting experimental and human studies.
    1. Past experience using motion analysis systems and force plates.
    1. Past experience using EMG, and metabolic testing system (preferred).
    1. Proficient in Matlab (preferred).
