  • Looking for a PhD or a post-doctoral position for approximate start in Oct 2025?

    Dear all,

Every year, the Luxembourg National Research Fund opens up a series of Industrial Fellowships for people to either pursue a PhD (4 years) or a post-doctorial fellowships (1-2 years). The requirement for this Fellowships is that the awardee and research must be linked with an Industry (based in Luxembourg), and an awarding University (Luxembourg or Elsewhere). The call dateline typically is every April of the year. We are seeking applicants who are interested in applying for PhD/post-doc in 2025 to contact us, to express your interest. We will provide support in submitting any application, including the writing of the research project.

In this instance, the industry partner is a private educational institute in Luxembourg – LUNEX. The partnering university is the University of Essex. Both institutes houses state-of-the-art biomechanics and computing equipment.

Broad areas of research interest for both LUNEX and Essex:
    • Development of field-based or clinic-based assessment of musculoskeletal/orthopaedic pain disorders or injury prevention/rehabilitation, using markerless motion capture or wearable sensor technologies
    • Digital biomarker discovery of musculoskeletal or orthopaedic pain disorders
    • General data processing and analysis from the collected data.
    • Develop feasible tech solutions for monitoring sensory-motor recovery in sports and clinics based on markerless motion analysis with the final aim of guiding the clinical decision making process
    • Address real-world concerns of safety, reliability, biases, and equity of AI model in context of clinic-based assessment of musculoskeletal/orthopaedic pain disorders or injury prevention/rehabilitation

    Who are we looking for?
    • We are looking for anyone with a strong quantitative background, with coding experience in any major computing language (Python, R, Matlab, etc) and/or experience of machine learning development (e.g. mechanical, biomedical engineers, data scientist, etc).
    • Interested in the areas of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, sports, rehabilitation and medicine.
