Dr. Dylan Kobsar of the Department of Kinesiology and the School of Biomedical Engineering at McMaster University invites applications for a PhD position. This opportunity is ideal for students passionate about advancing biomechanics and human movement science, with a focus on enhancing clinical outcomes in orthopaedics, particularly related to hip and knee osteoarthritis.
Research Focus:
The successful candidate will investigate the biomechanics of osteoarthritis and their relevance to clinical practice, particularly in the context of surgical decision-making for total joint arthroplasty. The project will leverage advanced markerless motion capture and wearable technology to assess biomechanical factors that influence surgical outcomes. This research will be conducted in a translational setting, integrating with a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians. The student will play a crucial role in ongoing research initiatives and have the opportunity to develop and lead new projects aligned with the lab’s broader objectives.
