The Laboratory for Neural Control of Movement and Neuromodulation, led by Dr. Cristian Cuadra, invites applications for a PhD candidate starting in Fall 2025. Our research focuses on the neuromodulation of spinal and vestibulospinal reflexes, for upper and lower limbs to enhance movement and function in individuals with neuropathologies.
We provide an enriching environment with advanced facilities that include laboratories dedicated to brain and spinal stimulation, vestibular and balance function, and biomechanics. The selected candidate will be engaged in dynamic research, data collection using cutting-edge equipment, and opportunities for personal growth through teaching and collaborative activities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Performing projects in movement neurophysiology using nerve and muscle stimulation techniques.
- Training and mentoring undergraduate lab assistants.
- Teaching lab sections in relevant graduate courses.
- Writing scientific manuscripts for publication.
- Performing data analysis and programming with MATLAB, R, and LabVIEW.
- Complete PhD coursework.
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in fields such as engineering, kinesiology, exercise sciences, neuroscience, physical therapy, or a related discipline preferred.
- Preferable experience in programming (MATLAB, Python, R) and data analysis.
- Strong writing skills, organizational abilities, and enthusiasm for scientific research.
