    Forensic Biomechanical Engineer
    Pleasant Hill, California

    Principia is hiring a forensic biomechanical engineer to join their growing injury biomechanics group, in Pleasant Hill, California. In this role, the individual will have the benefit of the support structure of Principia’s strong team and unique office culture. With an opportunity to work hand-in-hand with a well-established biomechanical expert, this position will facilitate skill growth and increasing levels of responsibility, including the opportunity to serve as a testifying expert when ready. Prior testifying experience is not required; a successful applicant only needs to possess the desire to work as an expert witness and a technical background within injury biomechanics.

    As an injury biomechanical expert, the engineer will conduct field investigations to gather data related to vehicle accidents, slip, trip and fall accidents as well as review medical records to determine the cause of the injury. The results of our analysis are presented in written reports or exhibits that illustrate our findings for use in depositions and trials. This requires strong and clear writing skills and the ability to present complex analysis in simple, straight forward exhibits.

    Salary Range: $130,000 - $175,000 /year – Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience and skillset.

    Requirements:
    • Master’s degree or higher in Biomechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
    • Individual should possess prior experience related to injury biomechanics with a foundation in the analysis of vehicular occupant motion, anatomy of the human body, and the effects of impact and inertial forces on injury potential
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate highly technical information effectively to a wide range of audiences
    • Desire to work as a testifying expert; prior experience testifying is not required but individual must have the wiliness to work as a testifying expert witness
