Applications are being accepted for the Ph.D. in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation at Old Dominion University (ODU), Norfolk, VA for Fall 2025. Graduate research assistantships are available. The deadline for applications is Feb. 1.
Old Dominion University’s PhD program in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation (KR) is recruiting new doctoral students for our program.
Our program offers a 3-to-4-year duration and advisors from diverse fields such as Exercise Science, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Training. Areas of emphasis include biomechanics, gait, physiology, concussion identification, fall risk reduction, and physical activity's effect on cardiometabolic disease among others. Your students can explore our individual faculty focus areas on our webpage: https://www.odu.edu/rehabilitation-s...rehabilitation
Several facilities affiliated with the KR program are housed in the newly constructed Ellmer College of Health Sciences building, which has four dedicated laboratory spaces. These contain our new virtual reality treadmill system, a complete motion capture lab, and transcranial magnetic stimulation equipment. Also within the building is the Faschini Wallach Center for Restorative Therapies, a state-of-the-art 11,000-square-foot rehabilitation facility that allows easy access to clinical populations and researchers. Additional KR-affiliated lab spaces across campus include the Human Performance Laboratory, Neuromechanics Laboratory, and Integrative Cardiometabolic Laboratory.
ODU's merger with Eastern Virginia Medical School has given birth to Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences, the Commonwealth of Virginia’s most complex and largest academic health sciences center with 56 academic programs. These new connections will foster a high level of collaborative research between hospital researchers, clinicians, and our students, offering exciting opportunities.
Our program strives to meet the individual needs of our students and create a positive learning atmosphere. We aim to develop the next generation of researchers, scholars, and academics who excel in the classroom and the community.
I would love to talk further with you about our program and answer any questions that you have. Please share this information with faculty and students interested in continuing their education in health sciences.
Thank you for your time!
