    Director of Clinical Research, Foot and Ankle Service

    The Director position offers an exciting opportunity to manage, support, and oversee clinical research in the Foot and Ankle Service. A key focus will be on restructuring clinical outcomes research, developing and supporting prospective clinical trials through methodological, analytical, and tactical support for project ideation and grant applications. The Director will be responsible for fiscal oversight of research activities, project tracking, supporting collaborations, and managing research retreats. The Director will be an integral member of the Foot and Ankle Service, reporting to the Chair, and will leverage supporting resources through the Center for Biostatistics, the Research Administrative team, and the Chief Research Officer to ensure success.

    Key Responsibilities will be to:
    • Enhance current clinical registries
    • Support the development of prospective clinical studies
    • Support the development and submission of grant proposals
    • Provide fiscal oversight and management of research accounts
    • Support the onboarding, integration, and management of counters, medical students, residents, research fellows, and research assistants
    • Build and maintain a strong rapport with the Center for Biostatistics, the Research Administrative team and the office of the Chief Research Officer to support all research related activities of the Foot and Ankle Service.
    • Develop, consolidate and report on metrics of performance.
    • Manage projects by overseeing project timelines and dependencies across the assigned projects, and taking proactive steps to assess delays and develop mitigation strategies
    Qualifications
    • An advanced degree, such as a PhD.
    • A minimum of 3-5 years work experience.
    • A demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and strong critical thinking skills.
    • Strong background in multi-disciplinary research, but with a strong clinical research, methodological/ statistical background strongly preferred.
    • Management experience preferred.
    • Excellent attention to detail, well-organized, and analytical.
    • Pleasant and amicable character, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to develop relationships with a keen sense of emotional intelligence.
    • Ability to model the core values and principles of Hospital for Special Surgery.
