The Applied Biomechanics Laboratory (abl.bme.unc.edu) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a postdoctoral position to help lead a highly collaborative line of research designed to establish a paradigm shift in our biomechanical understanding and clinical management of age-related mobility impairment toward feasible and cost-effective devices to modify foot and ankle structure and function. To accomplish this, the applicant will have access to an integrative combination of experimental and computational techniques, from quantitative motion analysis and in vivo ultrasound imaging to musculoskeletal modeling and intramuscular electromyography. The position is funded for an initial period of 1 year. However, we are deeply committed to the training and professional development of our post-docs, and intend for annual renewals beyond the initial appointment.

The successful candidate will have completed their Ph.D. in an area related to the biomechanics or neuromechanics of human movement. Research experience, a history of project leadership, and strong technical skills in the neuromechanics of foot and ankle joint function, including quantitative motion analysis, ultrasound imaging and analysis, musculoskeletal modeling, and intramuscular EMG are highly desirable.
