    Start: Spring or Fall 2026

    A PhD student position in Biomedical Engineering is available in the Gait Neuromechanics and Rehabilitation Lab directed by Dr. Rosenberg at the University of Vermont (UVM). The lab's research is focused on developing techniques and principles to enhance gait rehabilitation personalization.

    Research focus: Biophysical and machine-learning-based modeling of gait dynamics during rehabilitation in non-disabled adults and stroke survivors. Students will be encouraged to pursue the UVM Complex System's Graduate Certificate.

    Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate will have a B.S. or M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Bioengineering. Additional disciplines will be considered based on the applicant's experience and interests in human gait analysis and data-driven modeling. Candidates should have experience and/or strong interests in the data-driven modeling / machine learning, neuromechanics of locomotion, motion capture (optical, wearable, video-based), and gait rehabilitation.
