  • Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/x) in Neuromechanics

Faculty of Sports Science, Department of Human Movement Science, Ruhr University Bochum, Germany

In order to fill a fixed-term position in full-time (39.83 hours/week = 100%) from 01/2026, we are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/x) in Neuromechanics

The Department of Human Movement Science conducts research on the neuromusculoskeletal system of humans. To do this, we combine biomechanics and neurophysiology to better understand the interaction of the lower limb muscle-tendon units and the nervous system.

You will do research on human lower limb neuromechanics and more specifically on how the different lower limb muscle groups contribute to force and torque output at the foot and ankle. To better understand lower limb force and torque production, you will combine experimental research with modelling of the neuromuscular system. The NeuromecHAHNics lab provides extensive experience in and a state-of-the-art laboratory for experimental research on in vivo human neuromechanics of movement including a unique dynamometer setup. Apart from research, the position comes with a teaching obligation of four teaching hours per semester in the area of Biomechanics and Motor Control within the international, English-speaking Master of Science program entitled "Sport and Exercise Science for Health and Performance". You are also expected to advise and to supervise master students.
