  • Potential Full or Associate Professor of Physiomechanics, A.E. Minetti’s Lab, University of Milan

The University of Milano is keen to consider candidates to replace retiring Dist. Prof. Alberto E. Minetti FTPS, who acted as the successor of Emeritus Prof. Giovanni Cavagna during the last 19 years. The expected role includes developing and promoting scientific research at the Locomotion Physio-mechanics Laboratories (Dept. of Pathophysiology and Transplantation), to contribute the provision of Physiology teaching at the Medical School and to pursue the Community duties via scientific divulgation to the public.
Interested scientists are encouraged to mail Prof. Minetti (alberto.minetti@unimi.it) before October 30st by including their extended CV, bibliometric values, and a short letter of intents for when in Milan. A shortlisted group of them will be contacted later via videocall to deepen their proposal and eventually select the successful applicant.
Other details of the position follow:
    - Permanent position as Full or Associate Professor, corresponding to the actual role of candidates, to replace Full Prof. Alberto E. Minetti, issued via a nominal International Call, for an expected minimum period of 5 years
    - Governmental tax release for the first 5 years (extendable to other 3 years) corresponding to almost doubling the Italian Professor net salary, making it competitive with most net income abroad
    - in case of a Full Professor also accepting some managerial duties, additional wages (about 10%) could be added
    - for both Professorship roles, depending on international reputation of the candidate, the Rector has space to offer slightly higher sublevel/wages
    - depending on the Country of origin, appointees could keep on building up pension savings
    - fully equipped biomechanics laboratory, low-gravity emulation ‘cavedium’ (tall vent shaft), M-WALL: a motorbike Wall-of-Death structure where to test human training for body reconditioning on Moon and Mars
    - Formal education required in Medicine, Biology or cognate disciplines
    - A substantial publication track in some of the following topics: Locomotion Biomechanics, Energetics, Neurocontrol, Modelling, Robotics/Assisted Gaits
    - Teaching medical students part of Physiology Syllabus, in English or Italian
    - Collaboration (lead/assist/foster) with the Locomotion Biomechanics Group (Fisiomeccanica della Locomozione)
    - Promoting international collaborations both with the workplace of origin and other highly reputed laboratories in Italy and abroad.
    - Milan is the most important city in Italy for wealthiness and productivity, located a hundred miles away from most the best nearby seaside, countryside, and mountain resorts, and it is very close to the rest of Europe. The University campus is not far from the very centre of Milan.
    - The University of Milano and the Medical School are ranked within the first 4 Academies in the Country
    - the Italian Government ensure free Health Coverage to all citizens, including Academics

Further attractive details, as local research funding availability and actual laboratory financial reserve for equipment/personnel investments, can be directly discussed with Prof. Minetti.
