  • Visual 3D or Matlab for motion analysis?

The lab I work in currently uses Vicon plug-in-gait marker sets and models for motion analysis, but we are thinking of moving to cluster marker sets and subsequent modelling using either Visual 3D or Matlab.

Would anyone be willing to help / advise on using, sourcing and accessing validated models from in the public domain that we could explore with cluster marker sets, most particulalry for lower body biomechanics?

    Many thanks

Re: Visual 3D or Matlab for motion analysis?

    Alison,

I would be happy to chat with you! Feel free to contact me and we can chat via email or skype. I help labs all the time transition from one SW/model to another. Am an expert trainer, modeler and script writer in Visual3D and have lots of experience with plugingait and Polygon. There are great ways that you can bridge the gap between what you are doing now in PIG and moving to clusters. Have helped a few labs with this transition. Full disclosure.... I created a lot of content (tutorials and script examples) on the Visual3D wiki help site.... which by the way is a great place to find help and examples!! I am a freelancer and work with all the companies...

Am a member of this group.... so I am sure you can find my information but here is my email rdorociak@nwbiomechanics.com just in case

If you are using Matlab for processing motion analysis data, may I suggest you take a look at BoB - it's a free download which can be acquired through www.marlbrook.com/download.
