The Harvard Education and Research Center (ERC) for Occupational Health and Safety offers a post-doctoral fellowship in injury and/or disability research. These are full-time positions for a maximum of two years.
Post-doctoral researchers conduct ergonomics, safety, injury epidemiology, or disability and return to work research in close collaboration with injury research scientists at the at the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety (LMRIS) in Hopkinton, MA and with the Harvard ERC faculty in the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Duties include data collection and analysis, publishing in the peer-reviewed literature, participating in seminars and work groups, and collaborating on research grant applications.
Successful applicants have had a doctoral degree in epidemiology, safety research, ergonomics, behavioral science, medicine, or a related field. Candidates must also have less than five years’ experience post-doctorate, a demonstrated record of individual initiative in research, strong analytic skills, and potential to become an independent academic researcher within two to three years. Preference will be given to applicants whose training, skills and research interest’s best align with those of mentors at the ERC and LMRIS. The annual salary is set according to the experience of the candidate, plus a generous benefits package. These positions are contingent upon funding.
