We would like to thank the attendees of the 5th Symposium on Motor Control in Biomechanics for a great event.
The Symposium was held on Tuesday May 30th 2017 on the pre-conference day of the Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in Denver, USA.
The Initiative, organized by Dr. Paola Contessa, Dr. Joseph Hamill, Dr. Irene Davis, Dr. Brian Noehren and the ISB Working Group in Motor Control, featured the following internationally distinguished researchers (see the event flyer for details):
The talks included an honorary lecture from Prof. Matt Stock (University of Central Florida, USA) in memory of the life and contributions of the Dr. Travis Beck. Scientific presentations followed by Prof. Gert-Peter Brüggemann (German Sports University, Germany) on the effect of perturbation of habitual joint movement paths on extrinsic foot muscle metabolism, motor control and neuromuscular fatigue in cyclic exercise, Prof. Katherine Boyer (University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA) on movement coordination and variability to understand pathological gait, Prof. Bryan Heiderscheit (University of Wisconsin, USA) on self-selected running form, Dr. Joshua C. Kline (Delsys Inc, USA) on motor unit firing behavior during fatigue and Mr. Michael Trevino (University of Kansas, USA), on the relationship between motor unit firing behavior and myosin heavy chain composition.
