Position Announcement:

The Department Orthopaedics at Brown University School of Medicine
located within Rhode Island Hospital is seeking applicants for a
faculty position in Bioengineering at the Assistant Professor level.
The position is within the newly reorganized Bioengineering and Sport
Laboratories of the Department of Orthopaedics. The ideal candidate
will have research interests complimenting our existing areas; wrist,
spine, and foot biomechanics and in vivo image analysis. Applicants
will also be expected to further develop their own research interests
in Orthopaedic Biomechanics. Other focus areas of the Laboratories
include a sports injury program and an orthopaedic and sport product
testing service.

The primary teaching responsibilities of the position are for
orthopaedic residents. The candidate will also be expected to
qualify for an Adjunct appointment in the Division of Engineering and
to participate in the new Biomedical Engineering Program at Brown
University. Teaching responsibilities at Brown will consist of joint
instruction in one course per year for undergraduate/graduate

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D., a record of independent
orthopaedic and engineering research; a record of extramural research
funding; a record of publication in peer-reviewed journals; and a
proven ability to work closely with residents, medical and engineer
students, and practicing orthopaedic surgeons.
