TENURE TRACK FACULTY POSITIONS IN REHABILITATIVE BIOENGINEERING

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University and the
Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Medical College of
Wisconsin invite applicants for two new faculty positions. Both help
support a major initiative in the area of rehabilitative bioengineering, and
are supported in part by a Special Opportunity Award from The Whitaker
Foundation. While both involve joint appointments, one position is based at
Marquette University and the other at the Medical College.

Marquette University: Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track, Dept. of Biomedical
Engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate
courses, supervising graduate research, and functioning both as a funded
independent investigator and as part of collaborative research-based
activities. Teaching duties include helping implement a new graduate
sequence in rehabilitative biosystems. Research duties include
collaboration with Medical College and Marquette faculty and students
working in labs at the Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidates have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering and
an undergraduate degree in engineering, with interests in cardio-pulmonary
rehabilitation and tissue remodeling. Special attention will be given to
candidates who can help expand research activities in cardiopulmonary
rehabilitation, while also complementing existing strengths in orthopedic
rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, and/or telerehabilitation.

Medical College of Wisconsin: Assistant or Associate Professor, Physical
Medicine & Rehabilitation

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary duties include working with the PM&R Residency
Program Director to coordinate BME doctoral student participation in the
PM&R residency program, assisting residents with research, supervising BME
senior design projects, providing instruction in the rehabilitation
engineering course sequence, and occasionally teaching a doctoral-level
course. Using a classic tenure model at MCW, this person is expected to
generate 50% of salary through external support by their fourth year,
through funded collaborative research.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidates have a Ph.D. in an engineering or
health-related field, with at least one degree in engineering. Preference
for individuals with experience in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and/or
movement science, and who have experience working in a clinical research
environment.
