Meditech: The RESEArch AND
Medical Technology Network

Invitation and call for delegates, researchers, and
medical technology industries

Funding Opportunties and Research
Priorities in Medical Device
Technologies, Biomaterials,
Biomechanics and Biomedical

Wednesday 9th October,

National Physical Laboratory(NPL)
Queens Road
Teddington, Middlesex

Sponsored by NPL and the Welsh Development

We are pleased to invite you to attend the first meeting
of the newly formed MEDITECH, Medical Technology
and Engineering Research Network
. The objectives of the
Network are to bring together industrial organisations,
research centres, bioengineering laboratories and
academe to address new initiatives and identify
opportunities in the broad area of medical device
technology. The aim is to expand the network
internationally and to provide an effective forum for
communication between research centres, industrial
organisations and funding bodies that are interest in
developing the next generation of medical devices and
products together with extending the knowledge base
associated with manufacture, design and biomedical
engineering. This meeting provides presentations on
new large scale funding opportunities including the
forthcoming FP6 Framework, the Faraday Centre and
EPSRC initiatives. The programme also includes
experience of collaboration within biomedical projects
within the EC and prospects for the future. Industrial
organisations are particularly welcome to attend since
many of the funding steams will require joint
industrial/academic partnerships.
