About the Congress
*******************
The 1994 World Congres of Golf wil followw3 a similar format to the successful
first congress in 1990 which was held over fie days and attracted 300 delegates
from 31 countries. The 59 papers presented appeared in the book "Science and
Golf" which was published in time to issue at the Congress.

The 1994 Congres is backed by the two governing bodies of the game, the Royal
and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R & A) and the United States Golf
Association (USGA). In the words of the President of the USGA, "The World
Scientific Congress of Golf is the pre-eminent forum to present sound technical
information relating to the game ".

Congress themes

The main themes of the Congress, with likely subdivisions, will be
THE GOLFER
Biomechanics of the swing; physiology, nutrition, training; psychology;
assessment of coaching methods; health, fitness and injuries; sociology
and management; statics of performance and handicapping.

GOLF EQUIPMENT
Ball; club; test methods; technical aids for coaching and learning.

Submission of Papers
*********************
Formal abstracts are not required but intending authors must indicate
intention to submit a paper by 1st September 1993, giving a provisional
title and an outline of the content. On receipt of this, or at latest
by 1st October 1993, and provided the topic is relevant to the Congress,
a formal invitation to submit a paper will be issued, and detailed
instructions for authors provided.
Papers, which should not normally be more than six A4 pages in length, may
describe practical or theoretical work, or be in the nature of a review.
A maximum of sixty papers will be accepted.

The deadline for receipt of papers is 1st January 1994.
