The ASB Executive Board is announcing the third annual Mentoring
Program at the ASB annual conference in Blacksburg, VA. THe goal of
this program is to optimize the education and professional experience
of students attending the conference in September.

Anyone that is a member of ASB and is attending the meeting is invited
to participate. We are currently seeking students/senior scientists
who are interested in participating in the program. If you would like
to aprticipate, contact the coordinator of the mentoring program (see
below). The coordinator and the ASB executive board will work
together to find suitable matches between students and mentors based
on research interests and/or special requests.

We envision that the following type of interactions between student
and mentor will occur:
-The mentor will introduce the student to colleagues and help the
student establish a professional network.
-The mentor will spend a lunch or dinner with the student discussion
the student's educational and/or career objectives.
-The mentor will share career experiences with the student.
-The mentor will attend the (poster or podium) presentation of the
student and provide constructive feedback.

Please contact the coordinator of the mentoring program before June
30, 2006 (this deadline has been extended fromt hat date listed on the
ASB website). In your message, please include the following:
-Your contact information (name, mailing address, email
address, phone number).
-A brief (one paragraph) description of your research interests.
-Your career stage.
-Students: If you have a specific request please let us know!

Notifications of the final matches will occur in August. Following
notification it is the student's responsibility to contact their
assigned mentor to make arrangements to meet at the annual meeting.
