Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services ™ (CBC/CTS™) has an
exciting opportunity for a Lab Manager/Research Engineer in our expanding
Research and Development Department. The Lab Manager/Research Engineer will
be responsible for conducting Research and Development projects (with
involvement from initial development through execution and closeout),
managing the operations of R+D laboratories, collaborating with both
internal and external entities on projects, and developing CBC/CTS™ R+D
SOPs/Policies that follow applicable regulatory standards.



Job functions of the R&D Lab Manager/Research Engineer would be to execute
projects, conduct biomechanical tests, collect and analyze data, prepare
research proposals, reports for internal review, and manuscripts for
publication in peer-reviewed journals. Additional functions include
overseeing laboratory operations and assisting with surgical procedures.



BS degree required, MS degree preferred from an accredited university in
Biomechanics, Biomedical Engineering, or related area. Position requires
exposure to gross anatomy. Demonstrated research experience in orthopedic
biomechanics or related area is required, including the planning and
execution of tests and reporting of results. Experience with materials
testing systems ( i.e. MTS, Instron) and machine shop equipment preferred.
Experience in animal surgery including aseptic technique also preferred.
Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability
to problem solve, analyze, and give recommendations. Must be detail oriented
and have the ability to organize and keep accurate records. Professional
Development will be continued through training, courses, seminars,
conferences, and networking/mentoring. Additional training may be required
for participation in animal studies per the guidelines of collaborating
institutions. CTBS certification expected within one year of hire. Some
overnight travel required to attend training workshops, conduct
collaborative research, and present work at meetings. Will be required to
handle highly sensitive information with strict confidentiality.
