The Motion and Sports Performance Laboratory in the Department of Orthopedics at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX will soon be accepting applications for a biomechanical engineer. The primary focus of the lab is orthopedic research with a secondary sports performance component. The successful candidate will work together with orthopedic surgeons, clinical fellows, and residents in the conduct of research studies. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for data collection, data analysis, study organization, manuscript preparation, and troubleshooting of research equipment.


Primary Job Responsibilities:
∑ Conduct research under the direction of the Medical Director of the Motion and Sports Performance Laboratory
∑ Manage all aspects of projects from inception through manuscript preparation
∑ Perform data collection utilizing: 3D motion capture system, force plates, electromyography (EMG), foot pressure mat
∑ Maintain all laboratory equipment
∑ Coordinate research projects and manage timing of several concurrent projects
∑ Write and maintain laboratory IRB protocols
∑ Assist with scheduling of subjects
∑ Assist in the preparation and submission of funding applications
∑ Prepare, review, and submit abstracts and manuscripts for publication


Qualifications:
∑ Masterís degree in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, or a closely related field
∑ Experience in an engineering or other biomechanics/movement science related field, as well as knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of biomechanics
∑ At least a year of related experience in a gait and/or motion analysis laboratory
∑ Experience with motion capture data routines (calibration, marker application, data processing, etc.)
∑ Proficient with Visual3D as well as strong programming skills in MATLAB and/or LabView
∑ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
