The Associate Dean of the Herbert H. and Grace A. DowCollege of Health Professions plays a vital role in leading the Collegeresearch agenda and in fostering academic excellence across programs within theCollege. The Associate Dean reports to the College Dean and maintainscooperative relationships with the Department/School Chairpersons, ProgramDirectors, Division Directors, and other members of the College LeadershipTeam. The Associate Dean serves as a Senior Officer of Central MichiganUniversity and as the chief academic officer of the College in the absence ofthe Dean.

Earned doctorate in one of the disciplines offered by theCollege or related field.
Experience and qualifications for appointment with tenure atthe Associate Professor or Professor rank, in one of the departments or schoolswithin the College or related field.
Leadership experience in health professions at the level ofChair or higher.
Demonstrated higher education teaching experience.
Demonstrated record of scholarly accomplishments.
Familiarity with both applied and basic science research.
History of obtaining external support for research programs.
Demonstrated experience mentoring faculty at various stagesof Scholarly development.
Strong organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills,including budget experience.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and a globalperspective within the College.


Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing facultydevelopment programs in the area of research, scholarly activity andInterprofessional Education.
Demonstrated experience in mentoring interdisciplinaryresearch groups.
Demonstrated professional experience or close workingexperience with clinical healthcare.


Collaborateswith faculty in planning, implementing and evaluating research/scholarlyprojects.
Collaborateswith the Director and staff of the InterprofessionalEducation/Simulation/Standardize Patient center with advancing educationalactivity within the center and among the disciplines.
Collaborateswith the Director of the Carls Center for Clinical Care and Education tomaintain high quality clinical care to the patients, families and the communitythrough the integration of multiple disciplines.
Collaborateswith the Coordinator of Mobile Health Central (MHC) with the management of theMHC and the establishment of community partners.
Alongwith the Healthcare IT team, ensures the appropriate technology is available to support theeducational mission of the college, and the mission of the Carls Centerand Mobile Health Central.
Workswith the Deanís staff in planning for future educational needs of the college.
