The Locomotor Control (LoCo) Lab at Penn State University seeks a highly qualified post-doctoral scholar to study how cognition influences locomotor control and walking dynamics. This work will be conducted in Dr. Jonathan Dingwell’s laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology, College of Health and Human Development, at The Pennsylvania State University. Specific projects will involve applying advanced virtual reality-based experimental methods to examine how movement coordination and dynamic stability are regulated during human walking in young and older adults. Advanced data analytical approaches will be applied to identify the basic neural (computational) and biomechanical mechanisms that govern how humans control walking. Qualifications include a doctoral degree in Kinesiology, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field. Strong quantitative skills (mathematics, physics, Matlab) and a proven record of scholarly achievements are essential.
