We are seeking an enthusiastic research assistant to join the Center for Advanced Orthopaedic Studies at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA. Our research focuses on musculoskeletal biomechanics, with a particular focus on how the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system change with aging and disease. We perform studies in human cadaveric specimens and in human subjects, both in observational studies and in biomechanical testing. Our laboratory uses musculoskeletal modeling, biomechanical testing, and imaging techniques such as QCT and high-resolution peripheral QCT.

Job Summary: Under the supervision of the principal investigator, perform tests and measures utilizing biomechanics and engineering principles. Primary duties include in vivo measurements of motion, electromyography, and physical function in human subjects, and processing and analysis of associated data. Write and follow laboratory protocols, record results, calculate, transcribe, and analyze data using basic statistics. Familiarity with motion analysis systems, human subjects testing, and scientific/engineering software (e.g. Matlab, Labview) is necessary. Additional duties may involve image processing and analysis, computational modeling, mechanical testing, in/ex vivo measurements of bone or tissue properties.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, biomechanics, or a related field. Good work ethic, organized, and able to work effectively alone and in teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
