Position: Hallisey Fellow to support family caregivers

Status: Temporary Full-Time

Toronto Rehab Institute (TRI) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow interested in solving the challenges faced by family caregivers. To support the effectiveness and safety of family caregivers, we are developing technology and/or educational materials to make it easier to provide care in the home environment. This will enable families to support their loved ones to continue to live in their own homes rather than moving them into a nursing home or other institutional setting. The Hallisey award will support a Post-Doctoral Fellow for a period of two years, at $50,000 per year, to assist with the development and evaluation of these educational materials.

The selected candidate will be expected to build toward an independent research career by applying for external funding, publishing in high-quality journals, presenting at conferences and contributing to the supervision of graduate and undergraduate students. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary research team based at TRI, which is the largest rehabilitation centre in Canada. TRI is part of the University Health Network (UHN); UHN is a fully affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto.

A major strength of the program is the combination of basic science and clinical research with product design, development and commercialization. The research will take place at the unique iDAPT Rehabilitation Research facility. For more information about our specific team’s work please visit: www.trihomeandcommunity.com

• Eligible candidates will have completed a PhD in a relevant discipline.
• An interest in improving the quality of care delivered in the home through education on prevention of illness and injury.

• Interest in prevention of bed sores, falls, or caregiver injuries is particularly welcome

If you are interested in this position, please send your CV and cover letter to tilak.dutta@uhn.ca which should include a summary of why you would be a good fit for this position.

Thanks to all applicants. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. University Health Network has a diverse workforce and is an equal opportunity employer.
