    Ph.D. scholarship in neuromuscular fatigue

PhD scholarship in neuromuscular fatigue at the University of Verona (Italy)
The University of Verona(Italy) is offering a 3 years Ph.D scholarship in Neuroscience, Psychological and Psychiatric Sciences, and Movement Sciences within the Ph.D. School in Life and Health Sciences. The candidates will have the opportunity to work in the areas of neuromuscular fatigue under the supervision of Dr. Matteo Bertucco. The aim of the project is to investigate the underlying mechanisms of neuromuscular and physiological responses of fatigue in individuals with developmental neurological disorders including subjects with cerebral palsy. The results will help to refocus the current therapeutic paradigms on treating muscle deficits in developmental movement disorders and to pave the way for new unexplored rehabilitative interventions to move from highly-dependent to less-dependent or self-governing motor functions. The laboratory is located at the School of Human Movement and Sport Sciences within the Department of Neurosciences, Biomedicine and Movement Sciences. The Department is among the most dynamic and prolific academic environments in Europe in Neuroscience and the School of Human Movement and Sport Sciences has been ranked among the best 20 Schools of Sport Sciences in the world by the Academic Ranking of World Universities (2017). Highly qualified laboratories of neuromechanics, neuro-imaging and cognitive neuroscience are also located within the Department with possibilities for interdisciplinary collaborations. Moreover, the laboratory is currently collaborating with national and international universities and research institutions (Europe and USA).

We seek a candidate with a Master’s Degree in biomedical engineering, human movement science, physical therapy or similar background. Experience with exercise physiology evaluation, EMG and MATLAB is highly welcome.
