The Movement Neuroscience Laboratory, directed by Eugene Tunik in the Department
of Physical Therapy, Movement, and Rehabilitation Science at Northeastern University,
has openings for up to 3 Postdoctoral Research Associates. He/she will have the
opportunity to contribute to three ongoing projects: 1) investigating the neural
mechanisms of planning and updating of reach-to-grasp actions, 2) investigating how
actions, muscles, and synergies are represented in the brain, and 3) investigating
neuromotor biomarkers in ALS. The focus of these projects includes the study of basic
mechanisms in healthy individuals as well as the pathophysiologic mechanisms in
patients with Stroke and ALS. He/she will be trained in neurophysiology, motor control
theory, and experimental techniques for measurement of human behavior. Strong
collaborations with faculty in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
offer outstanding opportunities to obtain additional training in signal processing,
machine learning, and their applications to computational neuroscience. Methodologies
used in the lab include immersive virtual reality, haptic feedback using robotics, motion
capture, electromyography, magnetic and electrical non-invasive brain stimulation,
peripheral nerve stimulation, and neuroimaging. He/she will be integral team members,
make creative contributions to innovative scientific directions in the lab, and contribute
to writing manuscripts and grants. The appointment(s) is for one year with possibility of
renewal, pending funding and performance. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2018,

An MD or a Ph.D. degree in neuroscience, bioengineering, computer science,
mathematics, or psychology, with emphasis on motor control / motor learning or motor
neurophysiology is required. Experience with human behavioral experiments, fMRI,
or EMG/TMS approaches is preferred, but not required. The candidate should have
strong computational skills, proficiency in programming (MATLAB, Python, or C++),
strong written and verbal communication skills, and self-initiative / ability to work
