    Assistant Professor Position in Exercise Science

    The Position: Assistant Professor
    Salary: Salary commensurate with educationand experience.

    Qualification Details:
    Minimum Qualifications: The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a terminal degree in Exercise Science or related area. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be complete prior to the beginning of the academic year (August 2019). Ability to successfully teach a variety of undergraduateand graduate courses in exercise science. Evidence of scholarship commensurate with academic experience. The successful candidate should provide evidence of their commitment to or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    Preferred Qualifications: Experience or interest inteaching qualitative and applied exercise science especially in the areas of human anatomy, biomechanics, and/or exercise physiology. Evidence of a current scholarly agenda. Experience in or potential for applying scholarly interests to practical settings. Experience in or potential for working with software, hardware, and equipment appropriate for graduate instruction in exercisescience.
    Participationin relevant professional organizations. Experience in or potential for working with coaches and athletes. Willingness to communicate and work effectively withan ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Experience or interest in acquiring and administeringgrants.
    Responsibilities: This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. These include teaching undergraduate and graduatecourses in exercise science and related areas; developing an area of scholarship leading to publications and presentations; advising, mentoring, and supervising undergraduate and graduate student research; engaging in faculty governance and serving on department/university committees; and working cooperatively with faculty and contributing to the goals of the department/university. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.
    The Department: The Department of Kinesiology seeks to be a national leader in communicating and creating knowledge about physical activity to enhance the quality of life forall. We are a learning community of 17 permanent faculty, 25 part-time faculty,and about 900 majors including graduate students.
