Job Summary
The School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan, one of the highest ranked public
universities in the nation and one of the world’s preeminent research institutions, invites
applications and nominations for a faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor or
Associate Professor. Candidates will be expected to maintain a robust, ongoing
research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and have research
expertise appropriate for the effective mentoring of trainees at the undergraduate,
doctoral and post-doctoral levels in the area of athletic training. Successful candidates
will be expected to maintain extramural funding for an active research program at the
University of Michigan.


The School of Kinesiology (www.kines.umich.edu) is one of 19 independent academic
units and one of seven health science schools and colleges within the University of
Michigan. The School is led by a Dean, and has 28 tenure-line faculty and approximately
1000 students.


The University of Michigan is home to 260 degree programs and Kinesiology is one of
103 graduate programs rated in the top 10 and provides unparalleled opportunity for
collaboration. Collaborative opportunities exist both within the School of Kinesiology and
with other units across campus. In addition to the many exciting achievements within the

Qualifications
A PhD is required and postdoctoral training is highly desirable. BOC certification and
eligibility for Michigan Athletic Training licensure is required. Individuals with training
and expertise in basic, clinical or translational research related to Sports Medicine or a
related field are encouraged to apply.


At the Assistant Professor level, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the
potential for the following: 1) to secure extramural research funding, 2) to mentor
undergraduate and graduate students, and 3) to teach courses in the
undergraduate/entry-level master’s athletic training program and graduate courses in
their area of expertise.


At the rank of Associate Professor, the successful candidate will also have demonstrated
a consistent and ongoing record of securing extramural research funding, and will have
experience and skill in providing leadership that will advance the scholarly excellence of
the Athletic Training Program (http://www.kines.umich.edu/academics) and the School of
Kinesiology.
