The Neuromuscular Research Laboratory ( at the University of Michigan is looking for a talented and highly motivated applicant for a postdoctoral research position. The candidate will lead a clinical trial that seeks to test interventions to improve quadriceps strength and function after ACL injury and reconstruction.
A PhD, preferably in the area of biomechanics or athletic training, is required. The ideal candidate for this position has substantial experience in human subjects experiments involving testing with motion capture, muscle strength assessments, EMG acquisition, etc. Programming experience (e.g., LabVIEW, Matlab), knowledge of signal processing, advanced statistics, and excellent writing skills are desired and would be highly beneficial for this position. Experience with clinical trial research would also be of benefit.
In addition to the skills outlined above, ideal candidates should have excellent analytical and problem solving skills and must be able to excel in both a team and individual environment. Strong personal skills are necessary to interact with patients, parents/guardians of patients, and physicians. Since the candidate is leading data collections on this project, he/she must also have strong organizational and communication skills.
