PhD Position in Upper Limb Injury Biomechanics at McMaster University

The McMaster Injury Biomechanics Laboratory (Hamilton, ON) is looking for a qualified PhD candidate to investigate fracture mechanics of the upper limb. The focus will be to develop injury risk curves for different regions of the arm from ballistic shield deflections for military users. Our lab has unique test equipment to conduct impact testing simulating a broad range of traumatic conditions, and this project is sponsored by Defence Research & Development Canada.

An ideal candidate will have experience in experimental biomechanics, working with post-mortem human subjects, instrumentation or machine shop skills, strong communication abilities, and as this project may require travel to a DRDC location, must be eligible for security clearance (i.e. Canadian or permanent resident). Individuals with a Master’s degree in relevant Engineering disciplines are encouraged to provide a CV, unofficial transcripts, and brief statement of research experience to Dr. Cheryl Quenneville at quennev@mcmaster.ca.

This fully funded position is for a May or September 2019 start, and all qualified persons are encouraged to apply.
