The Department of Health and Exercise Science provides a rigorous and enlightening intellectual environment for the professional development, achievement and distinction of leaders in Athletic Training, Community Health, Health Promotion and Wellness Management, Nutrition & Dietetics, and Human Performance in Clinical Settings. In 2016, the Department launched the BS in Human Performance in Clinical Settings (HPCS) program designed to prepare students for careers in Exercise Science. An additional goal of this program is to encourage student to seek ACSM and NSCA certifications. The Department has earned national accreditation when available for each of its programs. Accordingly, the HPCS program is seeking accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES). The program description can be found at:

The Department of Health and Exercise Science is seeking to hire a qualified individual to teach courses within the area of Exercise Science. The successful candidate will teach Exercise Physiology, Exercise Prescription, Exercise for Special Populations, Biomechanics or other courses as deemed appropriate by the successful candidates experience and departmental needs.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program, as well as produce high quality scholarly publications that advance knowledge in their respective field. The successful candidates will also have the opportunity to develop collaborative multidisciplinary projects with other departments in the sciences, psychology, engineering, and emerging programs of medical education and research at Rowan University, as well as with the school of allopathic (www.rowan.edu/coopermed/) and school of osteopathic (www.rowan.edu/som/) medicine.

Additional duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to providing service to the Department, College and University.


Applicants must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution of higher education in Exercise Science or a related field. The successful applicant is preferred to have ACSM and/or NSCA certifications, but these are not required. Evidence of excellence in teaching and prior experience teaching at the university level is desired.

Successful candidates will have the ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the areas of Exercise Science within the HPCS program and Department.
