We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc to work on soft tissue biomechanics. Candidates should be self-driven and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidates must have experience in one, or more, of the following:

  • Biomechanics of soft tissues, preferable with a focus on collagen and elastin
  • Mechanics of fibrous materials, such as textiles or woven fabricsjob,
  • Image-based mechanics, such as digital image correlation and virtual fields analysis
  • Finite element modeling of soft tissues

The project has experimental and computational elements, and therefore candidates with experience in either will have equal opportunity to be selected. Experience in ophthalmology or vision sciences is not required.
The postdoc will have the opportunity to develop his/her own scientific ideas in the rich environment of the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, the McGowan institute for Regenerative Medicine and the Fox center for vision restoration.

To apply, send to Ian A. Sigal (ian@OcularBiomechanics.com):

  • CV
  • Two representative publications.

Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Applications missing either document will not be evaluated. More info on the Laboratory of Ocular Biomechanics at www.OcularBiomechanics.com.
The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity Employer.
