The University of Michigan School of Kinesiology invites applicants for the U-M Presidential Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program (PPFP) (http://presidentspostdoc.umich.edu/index.php#). The PPFP and the School of Kinesiology are interested in scholars in the broad field of Kinesiology whose research addresses the needs of groups that have been historically underserved by academic research. This includes:

  • Applicants with the potential to bring to their academic research the critical perspective that comes from their understanding of the experiences of groups historically underrepresented in higher education or underserved by academic research generally (this should be a focus when submitting your Educational and background statement);
  • Applicants in science, technology, engineering, math, economics or political science fields who can articulate how their research has the potential to serve the needs of groups that have been historically underserved by academic research;
  • Applicants who, in addition to their primary field of interest in math, science, engineering, economics, political science or technology fields, have the potential to make research contributions to understanding the barriers facing members of groups who have been historically underrepresented in these fields in higher education;
  • Applicants who have research interests focusing on underserved populations and understanding inequalities.

University of Michigan School of Kinesiology views these postdoctoral fellowships as providing an exceptional opportunity to recruit potential new faculty to the university by offering the possibility of either a postdoc alone or a combined postdoc and tenure-track faculty appointment.
In addition to the materials required by the University of Michigan’s President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (PPFP) site, applicants to Kinesiology must submit the following materials as outlined under “Application Instructions” to Interfolio by October 1, 2019. Please note that some of these materials duplicate those to be submitted to the U-M PPFP site.
