    PhD Position-University of Toledo-Biomech & Neuromuscular Aspects of LE Injury & Pain

    Position Description: Dr. David Bazett-Jones is seeking a highly motivated student interested in pursuing a PhD with an emphasis in the neuromuscular and biomechanical factors related to lower extremity joint injury and pain. Applicants should have an interest in human movement, muscle function, and/ or clinical outcomes in this patient population.

    Degree Program: Exercise Science
    Status: Full time (4 years)
    Stipend: $15,000 per year (tuition waiver included)
    Assistantship:


    • Teaching (human anatomy and physiology, biomechanics)



    Conduct High-Quality Research in the areas of:



    • Patellofemoral pain in youth & adults
    • Youth running biomechanics
    • Hip & trunk muscle function testing
    • Lower extremity & trunk biomechanics




    Qualifications:


    • Masterís degree in a kinesiology-related discipline
    • Interest in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
    • Good computer, and oral/ written communication skills
    • Previous research and/or teaching experience (preferred)

    • Multimodal dynamometer (Biodex)
    • Hand-held dynamometers
    • Pressure Pain Algometers
    • Linear position transducer
    • Surface electromyography (Noraxon & Delsys)
    • Transcranial magnetic stimulation
    • Hoffmann reflex
    • Electroencephalography
    • EMG biofeedback
    • Timing gates
