POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY IN CELLULAR BIOMECHANICS

The Musculoskeletal Research Laboratory, Department of Orthopaedics and
Rehabilitation, Penn State College of Medicine offers an opportunity for
postdoctoral study of cellular biomechanics. This position is part of
project funded by the Whitaker foundation to study the effect of mechanical
deformation on bone cell metabolism. Faculty research interests include
age-related changes in bone and cartilage cell biology, intercellular
communication, biophysical signal transduction, membrane biophysics,
cartilage development, extracellular matrix biology, computational
biomechanics and orthopaedic biomechanics. Familiarity with fluorescent
imaging techniques is desirable. Stipends will follow NIH guidelines with
a supplement based on candidate qualifications. Applications will be
accepted until January 1, 1998 and the position will be filled in early
1998. Interested candidates can get more information by visiting our web
