CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

Marquette University, a Catholic, Jesuit urban institution in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, is accepting applications and nominations for the Chair of the
Department of Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate will
continue the development of the University's educational and research
programs in biomedical engineering, and nurture the Department's 18
full-time faculty, 35 adjunct faculty, 255 undergraduate students, and 62
graduate students towards increasingly productive careers in biomedical
engineering. The Chair is required to provide imaginative and visionary
leadership, maintain standards of excellence in research and education, and
integrate the Department's programs within the overall mission of the
University.

The Chair will have an earned doctorate in biomedical engineering or a
related field, a distinguished record of scientific and professional
achievement, and a demonstrated commitment to educational excellence at the
undergraduate and graduate levels. He or she will have sufficient
experience to direct a complex academic department, excellent communicative
skills, the ability to articulate and promote the Department's mission to
students, parents, faculty, staff and others, an ecumenical and
participatory management style, and personal integrity and a strong sense
of professional ethics.

The successful candidate will be expected to continue the development of
the Department's undergraduate and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) educational
programs,nurture the Department's research efforts, foster the intellectual
and professional development of faculty and students, recruit high-quality
students with diverse backgrounds, identify additional opportunities for
research support, expand industrial and corporate relationships, and
promote effective relationships between the Department, other University
units, and external institutions, agencies and organizations.
