Greetings. I am designing a fatigue study involving physiological, EMG,
and kinematic changes during a 2 hr treadmill run with trained runners.
VO2 and lactate protocols have been developed for the physiological part
of the study, but I'm having trouble developing a protocol for the EMG
component (and to a lesser extent, the kinematics). After reviewing the
literature, I have found very little involving EMG and kinematics during
running in excess of 1 hr. Specifically, how often to sample the EMG
data during the 2 hour run, and the most effective method to reduce and
analyze the EMG data (e.g., Spectral analysis and power density using
Fast Fourier Transformation, etc...). Also, what kinematic variables
are most important during a 2 hour run? Any suggestions and insights
would be greatly appreciated.
